Fireplaces were originally setup in homes as a source of heating for the residents. In earlier centuries, they were also used for cooking purposes. In countries with a cold climate, homes with fireplaces are becoming popular once again. Fireplaces provide a great environment to relax on a cold winter morning. Now people feel the same joy on a night with friends and a backyard fire pit.

outdoor fire pits have become a prominent feature in many homes in the US. They have begun to gain popularity not only because they are useful as a heat source but are also because of convenience. Traditional fireplaces were made of wood and used charcoal as a fuel. They were a brick and mortar construction that vented the smoke from a chimney. This was usually a permanent setup and it was difficult to change the design or dismantle the set up.

Over time, as the concept of environment friendliness took roots, manufacturers introduced fire pits that used gas as the burning fuel. Gas fire pits provide a relief from the smoke that used to be created by the burning of wood in traditional pits. They are also easier to use, as it does not involve setting up a wood fire.
